Garcia tips Gerrard to shine
Luis Garcia has warned that Steven Gerrard will be one of the stars of the World Cup.
Liverpool forward Luis Garcia has warned that Steven Gerrard will be one of the stars of the World Cup finals.
The Reds captain produced an outstanding performance in the FA Cup final at the weekend, scoring two stunning goals in the 3-3 draw with West Ham before converting his penalty in the shoot-out.
Garcia has been included in Spain's squad for Germany but admits that his Anfield team-mate will be a key figure come June.
"Gerrard? I think his last game for all the supporters and all the world, showed what he can do," the Spaniard told Sky Sports News. "In the future and in the World Cup.
"He's a really, really important player for us and the England team. He will show his class at the World Cup."
Garcia missed the Cardiff triumph against West Ham but was pleased to see Liverpool emerge victorious.
"We were waiting a long time for winning that trophy," he said.
"For me and for the team, it was maybe the most important thing, winning a trophy like the FA Cup.
"It was a massive game for the supporters because it's the only trophy we [could] win this year."
