Gourcuff reveals Rennes rift

Rennes midfielder Yoann Gourcuff has confirmed interest from Milan, Lyon and PSG.

Rennes midfielder Yoann Gourcuff has laid bare his rift with the club and admitted that Milan, Lyon and Paris Saint Germain are all interested in signing him.

Contract talks with the Brittany-based outfit have broken down and Gourcuff has also been linked with Premiership triumvirate Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

The 19-year-old has just a year left on his existing deal but admits he is very unlikely to extend his present association.

Gourcuff claims Rennes will have paid the price for their reticence in offering new terms and now could be set to spark a transfer scramble for his sought-after signature.

"The only certainty is that I will not extend my contract at Rennes. I am disappointed because I thought things would turn out differently," Gourcuff told France Football.

"Unfortunately club officials delayed talks and it made it seem as though they didn't rely on me.

"If the officials had spoken to me at the end of last season then I surely would have signed a new contract.

"The officials claim I am an important player but I have only been offered two more years.

"It feels as though they are planning to sell me in a year's time and it has left me feeling like an object.

"I believe there is only a one percent chance that I will sign with Rennes.

"Being in contact with Milan, the best club in the world, is strange but the coaches at Lyon and PSG also really want me.

"I know [PSG coach] Guy Lacombe a little and he seems like a great coach. I also like what [Lyon coach] Gerard Houllier has said about me."

Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi has blamed the player's agent, Laurent Schmitt, for the upheaval.

"We made the best offer possible for the club considering our budget - Yoann would become one of the top three earners at the club," said Dreossi.

"I have nothing against Yoann, I think he has had bad advice and his agent doesn't tell him everything."
