Mohrle joins Wolfsburg

VfL Wolfsburg have signed MSV Duisburg defender Uwe Mohrle on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old stopper was one of the few bright aspects of the Zebras' relegation season in 2005/2006 and has now been rewarded with a move that will keep him in the top flight.

The former Hansa Rostock man put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at the VW Arena on Tuesday as Wolves coach Klaus Augenthaler looks to rebuild his squad after a poor season.

"He is a very versatile defender and his experience could play an important role in our team," commented VfL general manager Klaus Fuchs.

"Now we will be looking for a centre half, a creative midfielder and a speedy striker," he added.
