Torquay United defender Steve Woods has signed a new two-year contract with the League Two club.

The former Stoke City and Chesterfield player is a popular figure at Plainmoor, having made more than 180 appearances in his five years at Torquay.

Woods is one of several first-team players that Gulls boss Ian Atkins has been signing up to new contracts following their successful bid to remain in The Football League.

Steven Reed, Kevin Hill, Matt Hockley, Craig Taylor, Lee Thorpe and Matt Villis have signed on with the South Devon side ahead of the new season in August.
