Lehmann: I'll have my revenge
Jens Lehmann believes the reaction of Barcelona's players contributed to his dismissal.
Jens Lehmann has vowed to gain revenge on the Barcelona players who the German claimed engineered his dismissal in the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday.
The Arsenal goalkeeper's 18th minute dismissal left The Gunners with a mountain to climb and, despite taking a lead, they slipped to a late 2-1 defeat.
The performance of referee Terje Hauge was roundly criticised following the match in Paris and Lehmann claims the official was too easily influenced by the Barca players.
Having brought down Samuel Eto'o right on the edge of the area, Lehmann was dismissed for a professional foul and, although the decision was the correct one by the letter of the law, the former Borussia Dortmund star still harbours considerable resentment.
"I will always remember that," said Lehmann, when quizzed on his dismissal.
"I didn't say anything but in football and life you always meet twice and I will remember what they [Barca's players] did.
"I didn't want to foul him but the Barcelona players demanded I get a red card. The ref didn't have the self-confidence to ignore them.
"I went to see the rest of the match with my family in the stands. I will need a few days to recover from this.
"But I will remember what Barcelona did to me and and I'll take it to my grave."
