Modest Belletti hails squad
Julian Belletti does not want to be worshipped as a hero for his winning goal.
Julian Belletti has modestly played down his contribution to Barcelona's UEFA Champions League victory.Belletti fired the late winner against Arsenal on Wednesday, but he believes that the whole side should be credited.
Ronald Koeman is still revered at Camp Nou after his free kick against Sampdoria in 1992 earned the Catalan club their first European Cup, but the Brazilian does not want the same attention.
"I prefer it if people remember the whole team, for everything that we achieved together," he told Barca's official website.
"We beat some very big teams on the way - Chelsea, Benfica, Milan and now Arsenal - and that shows what incredible quality we have."
After two seasons at Barcelona the goal in Paris was Belletti's first for the club and he believes the importance of the strike is just starting to sink in.
"I know what winning the Champions League means for Barca and also what it means to score the winning goal. There are no words to describe it," he smiled.
"I have scored goals for Villarreal, but that was when I was playing on the right wing.
"At Barca I have not had many chances to score and always joke with the players that my time will come."
Belletti also claimed ominously that Barca have yet to hit their peak.
"Having won the League and the Champions League in the same season the fans will come back and want even more, just like us, and we are capable of doing that," he warned.
"We have played some of the best football without doubt and have worked hard to achieve this.
"Barca has not been just about 11 players, but the squad as a whole because every player has played a part and gone out and done very well."
