Hleb slams Bundesliga
Alexander Hleb reckons The Premiership is far superior to the Bundesliga.
Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb has delivered a damning indictment on the state of German football.Hleb joined The Gunners from Stuttgart last summer and initially struggled to adapt before becoming a key figure in their late push up the Premiership table.
The 25-year-old feels that the pace of the Bundesliga is too slow to adequately prepare German sides for opponents from other European countries, notably England.
"I don't want to say that the level is poor in Germany, but the tempo is quite slow, at least compared to The Premiership," he observed.
Germany skipper Michael Ballack this week joined Chelsea from Bayern Munich, while Dimitar Berbatov was another high-profile switch, moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Tottenham.
And Hleb has warned that the traffic will continue to flow in the same direction unless something is done to address the Bundesliga's decline.
"Nobody is afraid of German teams anymore," he declared.
"The respect is gone and it won't be easy to get it back as some of the top players are leaving the Bundesliga."
