Wiltord pens new Lyon deal

Sylvain Wiltord has agreed a contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions.

Lyon striker Sylvain Wiltord has agreed a new two-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions.

Having been linked recently with moves to Marseille and Paris Saint Germain, the former Arsenal player has now committed his long-term future to Gerard Houllier's side.

The 32-year-old also has the option to extend his l'OL career by a further season on top of the two initial years, provided all parties agree.

"Olympique Lyonnais can confirm an agreement has been found with Sylvain Wiltord for a two-year extension with an additional year," said a spokesman on the club's official website.

Wiltord scored 15 goals in 31 starts last season and if speculation is to be believed he could find himself competing with Paris Saint Germain star Pauleta for a place in Lyon's attack next season.
