Micoud set for Bordeaux

Bordeaux are set to announce the signing of Werder Bremen playmaker Johan Micoud.

Bordeaux are set to announce the signing of Werder Bremen playmaker Johan Micoud within the next few days.

Former France international Micoud, 32, is set to rejoin his former club after expressing his desire to leave Germany in order to end his career in his homeland.

Les Girondins chairman Jean-Louis Triaud told RMC: "Yes, we are in negotiations with Johan and I am quite optimistic."

A spokesman from Bordeaux also told Sud-Ouest: "The Werder Bremen midfielder will pen a two-year contract with the club he used to play for in the next few days."

Micoud, who played for Les Girondins between 1996 and 2000, will be the club's first close season signing and it is hoped he will help the team do well during their Champions League campaign next year.

Meanwhile, striker Jean-Claude Darcheville is set to decide where his future lies on Friday. The player is thought to be keen to sign a one-year extension with the Ligue 1 runners-up, but has also been linked with a move away from France.
