Madlung makes switch

Wolfsburg have signed Hertha Berlin defender Alexander Madlung.

Wolfsburg have signed Hertha Berlin defender Alexander Madlung.

The 23-year-old stopper has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal after passing a medical at the VW Arena on Tuesday.

Wolfsburg executive manager Klaus Fuchs was quick to express his delight at getting his man, who will now complete the Wolves' defence ahead of the new season.

"We have now managed to sign the man we have been after and will not be buying any more defenders this summer," said Fuchs.

Madlung follows Duisburg defender Uwe Mohrle and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jacek Krzynowek as the third new face at VfL this pre-season, as coach Klaus Augenthaler attempts to rebuild a squad that narrowly avoided relegation last term.
