Wigan have revealed that they have had bids accepted for two 'high-profile' players. The Latics are already busy in the transfer market and chief executive Brenda Spencer has revealed that a number of moves are in the offing.
Spencer also confirmed two bids have been accepted, although she would not reveal their identities - but one is thought to be for Crystal Palace's Andy Johnson.
"What is happening at Wigan is absolutely fantastic and now that we have secured our Premiership status, we can start building for the future and bring in the sort of quality players who will take us to the next level," Spencer told the club's website.
"I can confirm that we have made a number of substantial bids for high-profile players and that two of those bids have been accepted.
"We are also busy pursuing other targets.
"However, I have learned over the years, and it is even more relevant at this level, that patience is a virtue when it comes to transfer dealings.
"We have always prided ourselves on being totally professional and we do not believe in revealing names while negotiations are taking place. This is unfair on us and the players involved and can harm any potential deal.
"Our supporters can rest assured that Dave Whelan, Paul Jewell and I are working closely to improve the squad and that we will continue to work around the clock until we feel the club is ready for next season."
