Bochum have snapped up Mainz striker Benjamin Auer.

The former Germany Under-21 international, who was available on a free transfer at the time, was secured in a two-year deal by the newly promoted club.

The 25-year-old, who was believed to have been interesting relegated Kaiserslautern, can now look forward to continuing his top flight football career.

He said: "I've been looking forward to a new challenge after four years in Mainz.

"I want to help Bochum lose their reputation as being a yo-yo team next season".

Auer is Bochum's third close-season signing. He will join Armina Bielefeld midfielder Christoph Dabrowski and Hertha Berlin's Oliver Schroder.
