Valencia confirm Morientes deal

Fernando Morientes has agreed terms and a three-year contract with Valencia.

Liverpool's Fernando Morientes has agreed personal terms and a three-year contract with Valencia, the Primera Liga club have confirmed.

Valencia's sports director Amedeo Carboni had cast doubt on the move by saying that nothing had been finalised, but a statement on their official website has revealed that the transfer is done and dusted.

The 30-year-old has a fantastic goalscoring pedigree and will be a welcome addition for Valencia, who were on the look-out for a striker to partner the prolific David Villa.

Morientes struggled to adapt to English conditions during his time with Liverpool, scoring just 12 goals in 61 games.

His disappointing season at Liverpool led to his omission from the Spain squad for next month's World Cup.

He will be hoping get his career back on track by rediscovering the form which helped Real Madrid to three European cups and two league titles.
