Thierry Henry believes Franck Ribery will prove to be France's World Cup 'trump card'.

The Marseille winger, who is being chased by Manchester United, made his international debut in Saturday's friendly win over Mexico.

He has enjoyed a fine season on the left flank and is now being tipped to have a major impact in the World Cup finals.

Though Ribery was not initially expected to make Raymond Domenech's France squad, he could now start the team's opening game against Switzerland on June 13.

Ribery has received the full backing of team-mate Henry, with the Arsenal striker suggesting the exciting wide man is France's secret weapon.

"He carries the expectations of a nation," said Henry of Ribery.

"I think he has the talent to do it.

"He is our trump card."
