Marriott set for Gulls talks
Torquay United goalkeeper Andy Marriott is keen to sign a new deal at Plainmoor.
Torquay United goalkeeper Andy Marriott has revealed his desire to sign a new deal with the South Devon club. The much-travelled 35-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has attracted the interest of League Two rivals Boston United and Chester City.
"I spoke to the chairman (Mike Bateson) on Monday and we agreed to meet later this week," Marriott told Torquay's official website.
"I have just spoken to him again and we are meeting tomorrow morning (Thursday) for talks.
"I want to stay at Torquay United and I hope we can make that happen."
Marriott's comments come after Boston manager Steve Evans declared the keeper had agreed terms with The Pilgrims for next season.
"Terms have been agreed and everything is subject to his medical going well," Evans said in the Boston Standard.
"We don't expect there to be a problem there and hopefully then, everything will be completed.
"He's been targeted as our number one keeper with the possibility of us bringing in a young understudy."
It remains to be seen if Marriott decides to stay at Plainmoor or makes the move to Lincolnshire with Boston.
