Monaco land Leko

Jerko Leko has settled his future before the World Cup by signing a deal with Monaco.

Croatia international Jerko Leko has settled his future before the World Cup finals by signing a deal with Monaco.

The midfielder has proved to be a model of consistency for Dynamo Kiev over the course of the last four seasons, but said recently that he wanted to head for a new challenge.

It was believed that the 26-year-old would use this summer's World Cup finals as the stage to showcase his talents, but he has opted instead to sign for the Principality side.

Leko took time out from Croatia's World Cup preparations to wrap up his transfer and he feels the move could enable him to secure a regular spot in the national side.

"I wanted to join a strong European club and I'm sure that by playing for Monaco I will secure a regular position in the national side," said Leko.

Leko will look to impress his new paymasters this summer, with Croatia due to face Brazil, Australia and Japan in Group F.
