Gallacher signs new deal

Norwich City have signed goalkeeper Paul Gallacher to a new two-year contract.

Norwich City have signed goalkeeper Paul Gallacher to a new two-year contract at Carrow Road.

The Scottish international has committed to another two years with The Canaries, despite barely featuring for the East Anglian club in the past two seasons.

The former Dundee United custodian has long been in the shadow of number one Robert Green.

However, after Green ruptured his groin while on England duty prior to the World Cup finals, Norwich boss Nigel Worthington was keen to have another experienced keeper in his side for the start of next term.

Gallacher hopes his new contract can turn around his career with the Championship club.

"It was a bit surprising to be offered a new contract, as I had thought my future probably lay elsewhere," Gallacher told the club's official website. "So to be offered a contract is fantastic for me.

"It wasn't a hard decision to make in the end, as I want to be part of a team which is challenging at the right end of The Championship.

"Norwich is a big club and I got a taste of the action at the end of last season. I want more of that."
