Van Basten: No fitness fears
Marco van Basten says Edwin van der Sar and Rafael van der Vaart are fit for Holland.
Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and playmaker Rafael van der Vaart are fit to play against Ivory Coast on Friday, according to coach Marco van Basten.Van der Sar has been ever-present for the Dutch between the sticks and only needs two more international appearances to become the country's most capped player.
He missed training after the impressive 1-0 win over Serbia & Montenegro on Sunday, but has been praised and passed fit by the manager.
"It is not a real injury, more an inconvenience," van Basten commented.
"There was a lot of pressure on the match and it was hot, but still we did well and that gives us confidence.
"Our good start is also important because we still have to face two good opponents."
Hamburg's talented 23-year-old van der Vaart missed the Group C opener, but has also been passed 100 percent fit by the manager, after a series of ankle problems.
He could well make a return for the Ivorian encounter or the likely group decider against Argentina on June 21.
Barcelona midfielder Mark van Bommel and AZ Alkmaar defender Joris Mathijsen have also recovered from light knee injuries.
