PSG hold Boumsong interest

Reports in France claim PSG are weighing up a move for Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Reports in France claim Paris Saint Germain are weighing up a move for Newcastle United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong.

The France international is currently on World Cup duty, but reports suggest he could be offered a transfer after the tournament.

Though Boumsong recently stressed that he wanted to fulfil the next four years on his St James' Park contract, it has not stopped talk of a Tyneside exit.

He has been linked with Monaco and Lens, along with a return to Rangers following the appointment of Paul Le Guen as coach.

But rumours in France now suggest PSG boss Guy Lacombe wants to pair Boumsong with Mario Yepes at the heart of his defence.

Lacombe is anxious to sign a new centre half and is thought to have put Boumsong at the top of his wanted list.

Since joining Newcastle from Rangers in an £8 million deal 18 months ago, the 26-year-old has struggled to establish himself in The Premiership.
