Cygan in Rovers link

Blackburn are reportedly ready to rival St Etienne for the signature of Pascal Cygan.

Blackburn are reportedly ready to rival St Etienne for the signature of Arsenal defender Pascal Cygan.

Cygan is well down the pecking order at Arsenal and admitted recently that he could be tempted by a move to Les Verts.

With Cygan indicating that he could be prepared to move on from North London, interested parties are being flushed out of the woodwork and reports suggest Rovers could be prepared to offer him a Premiership lifeline.

Rovers produced an excellent effort to finish sixth in The Premiership last term and Mark Hughes is eager to ensure they continue on an upward curve.

The North West club will embark on a Uefa Cup campaign next term and Cygan has proven European experience with both Arsenal and Lille and he would certainly add a touch of quality to the Ewood Park playing staff.

Cygan has indicated that he would be prepared to jump ship from Arsenal to France, but it is not clear if he would be keen on a transfer to Lancashire.
