Three Lions urged to focus
Rio Ferdinand claims England will have only themselves to blame if they fail to beat T&T.
Rio Ferdinand believes England will have only themselves to blame if they fail to earn all three points against Trinidad & Tobago on Thursday afternoon.
While not underestimating the challenge posed by T&T, Ferdinand believes The Three Lions' focus will be the decisive factor in the Group B clash.
T&T claimed a surprise goalless draw against Sweden in their World Cup debut on Saturday and Ferdinand has warned his team-mates to guard against any complacency.
"We're expecting a tough game - we must approach the game in the right manner mentally and physically," Ferdinand told Sky Sports News.
"If we do that then, fingers crossed, we can get a positive result."
England received considerable criticism for their performance against Paraguay - despite recording a 1-0 win in their World Cup opener - and Ferdinand admits the second half performance against the South Americans left room for improvement.
"If I was a fan sitting at home watching the game then I'd have been buzzing about the result but part of me would be saying, if I was a bit greedy, I wouldn't mind a better performance but the be all and end all in tournaments like this is the result," added Ferdinand.
"We would have liked a better performance but it wasn't to be be and we're looking to improve in our next match."
