Cagliari to keep Suazo
Cagliari insist they have no intention of selling star player David Suazo.
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino insists the club have no intention of selling star player David Suazo. The Honduras striker has been the Sardinian outfit's best player this past season, finishing the campaign in fine style by breaking a goalscoring record previously held by Italian legend Gigi Riva.
Such form has not gone unnoticed across Serie A, with the talented frontman thought to top several club's wish-list this pre-season, with Ajax suitors from overseas.
However, it seems Cellino is loath to lose his top performer and, for the moment, Suazo remains a player very much in Cagliari's plans for next season.
''Everything has been said but the only real and sure thing is that Suazo is at Cagliari,'' he claimed. ''Since 1999 we don't sell players for money.
''I think this is response enough to those that may ask me if I want to sell Suazo.
''We have good balances, I've paid all the debts and we have not been involved in any scandal.
''We haven't an economical or technical necessity to sell players.
''Suazo is an important player for the team, he represents a big and absolute value for us. I hope he feels proud to be here.''
