Caneira eyes Che exit

Portugal defender Marco Caneira has confirmed that he is ready to quit Valencia.

Portugal defender Marco Caneira has confirmed that he is ready to quit Valencia in a quest for regular football.

The accomplished right back is currently representing his country at the World Cup in Germany but clearly has domestic issues he also wishes to resolve.

Despite being under contract at Estadio Mestalla until 2011, Caneira concedes that he may have to quit Valencia in a bid to prevent his career from stagnating.

''My first option is Valencia because I have a contract there but the reality is different,'' said Caneira.

''I do not enter the plans of the coach Quique Sanchez Flores and the best option is to play for another club.''

Caneira played the second half of last season back in his homeland with Sporting Lisbon, who he joined on loan after falling out of the first team picture in Spain.

The player has intimated he would be keen on making the arrangement permanent but it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese outfit are ready to match Valencia's ‚é¼6 million valuation.
