Rumours have been rife in France that the emblematic captain has been negotiating his departure.

Last week the French press announced that the midfielder had met with Toulouse directors about a possible transfer.

The news has prompted Les Verts to issue a statement clarifying the player's situation at Stade Geoffrey-Guichard

"St Etienne's director would like to clarify the situation concerning Julien Sable," a spokesman told the club's official website.

"We can confirm he is under contract until June 2010, there are no negotiations at the present time."
