West Ham have stated striker Marlon Harewood is not for sale following reports of interest in his services from Premiership rivals.Harewood impressed on The Hammers' return to England's top-flight with 14 league goals and an FA Cup semi-final winner against Middlesbrough.
A number of clubs want to bolster their numbers up front and the likes of Newcastle, Portsmouth and Tottenham have all been mooted as potential suitors.
However, manager Alan Pardew has acted quickly to the speculation by declaring the former Nottingham Forest man unavailable for transfer.
With West Ham participating in next season's Uefa Cup, and Harewood on a long-term deal, Pardew is not looking to offload any of his key players.
"I am not surprised to hear other clubs are interested in Marlon," Pardew told the club's official website.
"He had a terrific season last year and was our most improved player. His pace, power and strike rate would be an asset to any club.
"But Marlon is not for sale. The fans love him here and he has become a hero with his many goals, including the winner in our FA Cup semi-final win over Middlesbrough.
"He is on a long contract with us and, like the rest of the squad, is looking forward to the club's European campaign and improving on our successes of last year."
