Cisse a reluctant leaver

Djibril Cisse has spoken to Sky Sports News about being forced out of Liverpool.

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has spoken exclusively to Sky Sports News about what he feels is Rafa Benitez's desire to force him out of Anfield.

The Frenchman is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered whilst on international duty but has now been told he has no future at the Merseyside outfit.

Cisse looks to be heading back to his homeland and Marseille in October, when he is expected to have recovered from his latest injury, but it is with a heavy heart that he will seek pastures new.

''I have no reason to leave,'' he told Sky Sports News. ''I feel good here, I have good friends here, I get on with the staff.

''I have got married here, my son is here. Everything is really good for me here, it's really hard.

''If I have the choice, I'd stay here a long time. But I guess I don't have the choice.''

Benitez has made it clear that Cisse has little future at the club and having conducted talks with the Spanish tactician, the pacey front man accepts that his time at Liverpool is drawing to a close, despite his desire to the contrary.

''Really, I have been asked nicely to leave the club,'' he added.

''When you are asked to do something and when the manager asks you to leave, and he has the power to play you or not, then it's better to leave.''

While Cisse accepts he has spoken fondly of Marseille in the past, he believes his words have been twisted in the press and is relieved now to be able to put the record straight on the matter.

''Then, (after being told he could leave) I said I was interested in Marseille,'' he concluded. ''It makes me laugh how people twist things when you speak.

''I always said 'yes, I like Marseille' but he (Benitez) said Real Madrid was the club of his heart and that one day he would like to manage there, but that does not mean he will go there next season.

''I've said since I was kid that I always supported Marseille but that doesn't mean I'm desperate to go to there like I read in the papers.

''I signed here for five years and wanted to see out that contract but it looks like he does not want me.''
