Anelka interest hots up

Werder Bremen, Lyon and Liverpool are all reportedly following Nicolas Anelka.

According to L'Equipe, interest in Fenerbahce striker Nicolas Anelka is hotting up with Werder Bremen, Lyon and Liverpool all reported to be keen on the French striker.

The former Manchester City and Arsenal forward has been constantly linked with an exit from Turkey, with England his supposed favourite destination.

Although Everton, Portsmouth and Newcastle have all been rumoured to be keen on Anelka, the French press are reporting Liverpool could be ready to bring him back to Anfield.

The 27-year-old spent a spell on loan with The Reds back in 2001 and Anfield officials are still believed to be fans of the player whom once cost £23 million when moving from Arsenal to Real Madrid.

Rafa Benitez is in the market for attacking reinforcements having brought in just Craig Bellamy to compensate for the sale of Fernando Morientes and the imminent exit of Djibril Cisse, however it is not clear whether the Spaniard is a fan of Anelka.

Should Benitez decide against a move then Lyon and Werder Bremen are reputedly next in line, but the French champions may be priced out of any move with Fenerbahce looking for anything up to ‚é¼12 million (£8.3 million) for the explosive striker.

Meanwhile, Lyon are also being linked with an audacious bid to bring Milan star Kaka to Stade Gerland.

The Rossoneri could be relegated if found guilty in the Italian match-fixing trial, and the Brazilian World Cup midfielder would be unlikely to play in Serie B even after signing a new deal as recently as June.

Real Madrid are strong admirers of the gifted midfielder but Lyon supremo Jean-Michel Aulas is hoping the presence of Kaka's compatriots Juninho, Cris and Fred could persuade the star to make a surprise switch to Ligue 1 should Milan be demoted.
