Bristol Rovers are close to signing midfielder Sammy Igoe on a Bosman free transfer at The Memorial Stadium.The 30-year-old impressed towards the end of his three-month loan spell with The Pirates last season, and manager Paul Trollope is anxious to secure his services for another season in League Two.
"We kept in contact with Sammy throughout the summer and we hope to have something sorted out with him either this week or in the next two weeks," Trollope told the club's official website.
"When he finally got match fit last season he was fantastic for us and we're pleased he's back and a deal is close to being tied up.
"The friendlies start in a couple of weeks so now is the time we need to have people with us.
"There's still scope to bring in one or two more people and we're hopeful that Sammy will be a Bristol Rovers player before long."
Rovers face Peterborough United in the first game of the new season on August 5.
