Owls boss Paul Sturrock has now revealed that Tudgay will miss the start of the season as he will be out for two months after having surgery.
Sturrock asked the Hillsborough fans not to be too hard on the former Derby man due to the manner in which he picked up the injury.
"I can assure you the lad is a model professional," Sturrock told the club website.
"There was no indiscretion from him over this injury and I would like to emphasise that as far as the fans are concerned."
