Materazzi's Inter pride

Italy centre half Marco Materazzi is proud to be representing Internazionale in the World Cup final.

Materazzi will be the sole Inter player in the Azzurri's starting line-up for Sunday's showpiece against France in Berlin.

He has been linked with a move to Spanish side Villarreal, but is eager to stay at Inter and continue serving the club with distinction.

"I'll be the only Inter player on the pitch and for me there is pride in taking my club to the final," said Materazzi.

"There is even more pride because this is the result of a hard job.

"Leaving Inter? I am, and I remain, an Inter player. I have no intention of leaving them."

The former Everton defender will again fill in for the injured Alessandro Nesta alongside Fabio Cannavaro against France.

He admits he had sleepless nights before the semi-final win over Germany and is confident Italy can win a fourth World Cup title.

Materazzi added: "Before the match against Germany I didn't sleep. We are dreaming with open eyes.

"Now we are missing only the last step. I think we can do it. Why? Because we have hunger, more than France, a big side who have already won.

"We are a fantastic group, composed of people like me, Gattuso, Iaquinta and Grosso.

"Let's say we have the same possibilities to win, just that we have more determination."
