Baggies move for Swiss ace

Skysports.com can reveal that West Brom are chasing Pascal Zuberbuhler.

Skysports.com can reveal that West Brom are closing in on Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler.

The Baggies are in the market for a new goalkeeper as doubts continue to surround the long-term future of Manchester United target Tomasz Kuszczak

United have enquired about Kuszczak and they are thought to be lining up a move for the Polish international.

West Brom are short of options between the sticks after failing to turn Chris Kirkland's loan move into a permanent switch.

Baggies boss Bryan Robson is now considering a move for Basel custodian Zuberbuhler.

Zuberbuhler impressed at the World Cup with Switzerland and he did not concede a single goal in open play during the finals.

The player's agent Martin Wiesner revealed West Brom are in talks to lure Zuberbuhler to England.

"Yes we are in contact with West Brom," Wiesner told skysports.com.

"We are talking and it is possible a transfer could be done.

"We have to talk with West Brom and Basel and then we will see.

"Pascal is interested in a move to England and he knows West Brom and the manager (Robson).

"There is a possibility that something could be done soon."
