Nardiello to miss season start

Barnsley's Daniel Nardiello will miss the start of the season with a fractured collarbone.

Barnsley striker Daniel Nardiello will miss the start of the new season after fracturing his collarbone in training.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury in a freak training ground accident on Monday, as the hit-man was subsequently rushed to hospital.

X-rays have confirmed that the former Manchester United player has fractured his left clavicle and that he faces up to six weeks on the sidelines as a result.

Tykes assistant manager and head physio Rick Holden confirmed the news regarding Nardiello's injury setback.

"It was just a freak accident in training, as he challenged for the ball between a couple of players and fell awkwardly," Nardiello told the club's official website.

"Daniel will be in a sling for a while and have it strapped. He will go for a further X-ray in a couple of weeks to make sure everything is healing well."
