Rovers seal Shuker deal
Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the capture of Barnsley wide man Chris Shuker.
Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the capture of Barnsley wide man Chris Shuker. The diminutive schemer played his part in The Tykes' promotion winning campaign last term but has now elected to move to Prenton Park.
Shuker began his career at Manchester City before switching to Oakwell in 2004, where he quickly established himself as a fans' favourite.
However, it is with Rovers that Shuker will be plying his trade with next season and Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore is clearly delighted with the player's decision.
"We have worked very hard to bring him to the club and we are glad we have been able to do it,'' Moore told the club's official website.
"He is an old fashioned style of winger who uses tricks and likes to beat people. He is a player you would pay to watch and we are delighted he will be at Prenton Park this season."
Shuker, who has penned a two-year deal, has echoed the words of his new taskmaster having spoken with passion and conviction about his new club.
"I wouldn't have signed for Tranmere if I didn't think we could get promoted. I've come to get promotion,'' concluded Shuker.
''I did it at Barnsley last season and I think the squad here is good enough to do it this season.
"Last season didn't finish for me until May 27 so I've not had any pre-season training yet. I can't wait to have my medical then join the rest of the squad training.
"I'm delighted to have signed for Tranmere."
