The 22-year-old progressed through the youth ranks with the Yellow Submarines but after falling out of favour with boss Manuel Pellegrini he was allowed to find a new club.
Font originally seemed set for Catalan side Espanyol but has now penned a three-year deal with Osasuna, with his buyout clause set at ‚é¼10 million (£6.9 million).
Villarreal will be entitled to 50 percent of any subsequent sale, and the versatile midfielder will be focused on carving out a successful career at Estadio El Sadar.
The young Spaniard played one game in Villarreal's run to the UEFA Champions League semi-final last season, and could feature in the third qualifying round this time around as Osasuna look to impress on the European stage.
