O'Leary stuck in transfer limbo

David O'Leary's says his summer budget hinges on the potential sale of Milan Baros.

David O'Leary admits he faces uncertainty over his summer recruitment drive, with the funds at his disposal resting on the possible sale of Milan Baros.

Ambitious German outfit Hamburg are trying to secure the Czech Republic World Cup striker, but so far their bid has not matched up to Villa's valuation of the former Liverpool man.

The current impasse in negotiations has had a knock-on effect for O'Leary, with the Irish boss currently in limbo over any potential transfers.

Indeed the Villa chief admits he has no new faces lined up as he has no idea what his summer budget will be with Baros's future still uncertain.

"I haven't got anyone lined up as I don't know how much of that (Baros) fee I would get to spend if the move goes through," O'Leary said in The Sun.

"I don't know which end of the market I will be shopping at. I am not sure whether we will be looking at £1 million or £5 million players."

So far Villa's only summer signings have been Swiss teenage twins Damian and Yago Bellon, and new blood will be needed to strengthen the squad and appease the fans who have grown accustomed to financial frustration over the years.
