Tigers seal Ricketts capture

Hull City have followed the capture of Dean Marney with Swansea City's Sam Ricketts.

Hull City have continued to strengthen their squad by following up the capture of Dean Marney with Swansea City's Sam Ricketts.

The Tigers have paid Swansea £300,000 for the 24-year-old full back who has eight Wales caps to his name.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins said earlier this week the club had no intention of cashing-in on the stopper, but their position has now changed.

Ricketts is hoping playing regularly for Phil Parkinson's side will strengthen his chances of becoming a regular for his country.

"Hopefully, the move to Hull can only help my Wales career," he told the South Wales Evening Post.

"Playing in The Championship every week should make me a better player, and that should help me in terms of getting into the Wales team regularly."

The former Oxford man has penned a three-year deal with the East Coast side and becomes the club's third close-season capture behind Marney and Michael Turner.

Ricketts is now in line to make his Hull debut when they tackle Doncaster Rovers in a pre-season friendly next Wednesday.
