Blow for Saints trialist

St Mirren will not be signing Mark Innes after he was ruled out of action with a serious injury.

Former Port Vale defender Innes was looking to earn a permanent deal at Love Street - but he has damaged his Achilles tendon during training.

He is not expected to play again this year, which means any possible move to the SPL new boys is out of order.

Meanwhile, St Mirren have confirmed the signing of former Ross County striker Alex Burke on a two-year deal.

"Since I've been in charge at St Mirren, this is the third time I've tried to bring Alex to the club," said St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson.

"Alex was beyond doubt one of Ross County's best players."
