Innes in Saints trial

St Mirren have taken former Port Vale defender Mark Innes on trial.

The 27-year-old spent last season with Port Vale, but was freed at the end of the campaign.

He is now trying his luck with the SPL new-boys.

Scottish-born Innes, who has also played for Oldham and Chesterfield, featured in St Mirren's pre-season clash with Stirling Albion.

Saints chief Gus MacPherson is looking for a new left back and Innes may fit the bill.
