Rovers land McCready

Tranmere Rovers have signed former Crewe defender Chris McCready.

Tranmere Rovers have signed former Crewe Alexandra defender Chris McCready.

The 24-year-old joins the Wirral-based club on a free transfer after impressing manager Ronnie Moore while on trial at Prenton Park.

After starting his career with The Railwaymen, McCready departed Crewe after turning down a new contract offer at Gresty Road.

Moore was delighted to make McCready his ninth and final signing of the summer.

"Chris is a very versatile defender who has spent the last three seasons in The Championship, so adds experience to our back-line," Moore told the club's official website.

"He has been brought up the right way at Crewe and is comfortable on the ball and he is another good signing for us.

"I'm really pleased to have made my final signing more than two weeks before the beginning of the season."
