AJA fight to keep Kaboul

Auxerre are fending off bids for their young defensive starlet Younes Kaboul.

Auxerre are fending off bids for their young defensive starlet Younes Kaboul, with Internazionale among the clubs interested.

The Serie A giants are big admirers of the powerful 20-year-old and have been monitoring his situation for the past two years.

Kaboul required surgery on his knee after suffering ligament damage last summer, and consequently featured in just eight Ligue 1 games last term.

But he returned to full fitness to re-ignite interest in his services, with Arsenal one of those believed to be in the hunt for the level-headed youngster.

"Auxerre officials have already turned down an Internazionale offer, but there have also been some from other clubs," Kaboul confirmed.

"It will be difficult to leave this year. But we are still in contact with Internazionale.

"Anyway, if I have to stay at Auxerre, that is not a problem. I feel at ease here so far. I can still improve here."

The Stade Abbe-Deschamps outfit kick-off their new campaign against Valenciennes on August 5, so it could be another year before the player agrees on a permanent move away.
