Igoe finally a Pirate

Bristol Rovers have finally completed the signing of midfielder Sammy Igoe.

Bristol Rovers have finally completed the signing of midfielder Sammy Igoe.

The 30-year-old returns to the West Country for the first time since a spell with League Two rivals Swindon Town.

The former Portsmouth and Reading player impressed for The Pirates during a loan spell at the latter end of last season before being released by Millwall back in May.

Igoe has signed a two-year contract at The Memorial Stadium after passing a medical on Friday, with the player pleased to settle his move to Paul Trollope's side.

"It seems to have taken a long time and seemed to drag on forever but, thankfully, I've signed a contract now," Igoe told Rovers' official website.

"We have four really hard games at the beginning of the season, but if we keep our best players, I see no reason why this team can't push for promotion."
