Boumsong attracting interest

Jean-Alain Boumsong has conceded that several clubs have enquired about his services.

Jean-Alain Boumsong has conceded that several clubs have enquired about his services but that he has yet to receive a concrete offer to leave Newcastle.

The France international looks to be on his way out of St James' Park after failing to ever find his best form at the North East outfit following a big money switch from Rangers.

Boumsong fell out of favour during Glenn Roeder's reign as caretaker manager last season and it seems unlikely his fortunes will change for the better following the latter's appointment on a permanent basis.

Juventus, Marseille and Monaco have all spoken to Newcastle about the player's potential availability, with Boumsong clearly not short of suitors should he elect to seek pastures new.

Taking time to discuss the merits of each side respectively, it would appear Boumsong is considering life away from England and The Premiership.

''All these contacts exist and are recent, but as regards anything concrete there is nothing signed and for the moment I still belong to Newcastle,'' Boumsong told his personal website.

''All of these clubs have their attractions.

''With Marseille there is the adrenaline of playing in front of a passionate crowd every week and not forgetting that the club has a great history and has seen some great players.

''What's more Djibril (Cisse) and Franck (Ribery) could also be there which would be nice for me.

''Monaco are trying to build a great side and should be right up there this season; while Juventus, although they might be in Serie B, they will not be there long with (Didier) Deschamps in charge.''
