Robins land ex-Hammers keeper

Bristol City have moved to further strengthen their squad on the eve of the new season.

Bristol City have moved to further strengthen their squad on the eve of the new League One season.

Robins manager Gary Johnson has completed the short-term signing of former West Ham goalkeeper Matthew Reed.

Reed was released by The Hammers this summer and has signed a one-month deal at Ashton Gate.

Johnson has been on the lookout for cover for first choice keeper Adriano Basso, and will now run the rule over Reed, who spent four months on loan at Barnet last term.

"He's been released by West Ham and we've brought him in on a one-month deal," Johnson told the club's official website.

City begin the new season on Saturday with a home date against Scunthorpe.
