Leyton Orient have sealed the capture of Clayton Fortune. The former Bristol City defender has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at The Matchroom Stadium, after shunning interest from Queens Park Rangers.
Fortune, released by City at the end of last season, spent pre-season on trial at QPR and was also heavily linked with a move to Preston earlier in the year.
Orient boss Martin Ling is thrilled to have signed the 6ft 4in centre back, and expects him to make a significant impact in League One.
"I'm delighted to have signed Clayton as he's a player who's been on my list since Christmas," Ling told the club's official website.
"Now I feel that we've got the right people in the defensive area.
"Clayton will fill the gap left by Gaby's (Gabriel Zakuani) departure and he's also left-footed so he'll add some balance to the back line as well.
"It makes our defensive unit very strong with John Mackie, Dave Partridge, Brian Saah, Adam Tann and now Clayton in there. So I'm very happy."
