Excelsior duo sidelined by injury

Excelsior duo Rudy Jansen and Damien Hertog have both suffered serious injuries.

Both players have been ruled out for a number of months after picking up nasty injuries during the Dutch club's preparations for the new season.

Hertog broke his leg at the weekend, while Jansen suffered knee ligament damage in Excelsior's friendly against amateur side TOGB on Tuesday.

The news of Jansen's injury will be a huge blow to coach Mario Been, who brought the defender to the club during the summer.

The 27-year-old penned a four-year deal at the Stadion Woudestein but looks set to miss the majority of the first season because of injury.
