Bordeaux have dropped their interest in CSKA Moscow star Daniel Carvalho.

Bordeaux have dropped their interest in CSKA Moscow star Daniel Carvalho, after the player became cup-tied in Europe.

Carvalho represented CSKA in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round against Ruzomberok on Wednesday and is no longer eligible to play in European competition this term.

Bordeaux had been keen to sign the forward, but coach Ricardo is now prepared to look elsewhere.

"Hiring such a player just to play in Le Championnat de France is of no interest," stated the Brazilian boss.

Renato of Flamengo was an alternative target, but financial issues seem destined to scupper that particular move.
