Christian Vieri has quit Sampdoria just one month after signing for the club. The Italian striker agreed to join Sampdoria in July following an injury-hit six-month spell at Monaco, but he has now had a change of heart.
According to a statement on the club's website the decision to part ways with Vieri came after a "serene" meeting between the player and Sampdoria's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, who agreed that "the conditions no longer existed" to continue their relationship.
No further details were given, but Vieri is believed to be mulling over his future in the game.
The 33-year-old underwent knee surgery this summer in a bid to correct the injury which kept him out of Italy's World Cup squad.
