Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose has been chosen as Germany's Player of the Year for 2006 by the country's journalists.

The 28-year-old, who topped both the Bundesliga and the World Cup scoring charts last season, easily won the Kicker-sponsored poll with a total of 532 votes.

Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann took second place with 82 votes ahead of Bayern Munich left back Philipp Lahm, who clocked up 58 votes.

Both of the aforementioned duo were impressive performers at the World Cup but it was Klose who stole the top accolade.

Former Germany boss Jurgen Klinsmann took the Coach of the Year award ahead of Hamburg's Thomas Doll and Mainz's Jurgen Klopp.
