Wolves have confirmed that Celtic are trying to sign defender Lee Naylor. The Championship club had been hoping to keep the 26-year-old at Molineux, but Celtic have gradually stepped up their interest.
Wolves are now almost ready to sell, after Naylor approached club bosses requesting to be given the chance to move to Glasgow.
Chief executive Jez Moxey has told Celtic that Naylor is available for £600,000 plus one player.
"A couple of weeks ago Celtic called out of the blue with a £400,000 offer for Lee," Moxey recounted to Wolves' official website.
"We believe that their interest was sparked by his former team-mate at Wolves Kenny Miller.
"The verbal offer, which was subsequently made in writing, was immediately refused.
"Three or four days ago Celtic made a second verbal offer - this time for £600,000 - but we again said that we didn't want to sell Lee.
"However, as the player has told us that he is desperate to move to Cetic, we have reluctantly agreed to let him go providing Celtic can meet our valuation.
"We have told them that we will agree to their second cash offer plus one of three of their players in whom we are interested.
"We really don't want Lee to leave Molineux but, given the position we are in, we are forced to take a pragmatic approach and Celtic know exactly what they have to do to obtain his services - the ball is in their court."
