Palermo fight for Amauri

Palermo and Barcelona are reportedly fighting it out for Chievo striker Amauri's services.

Palermo and Barcelona are believed to be just two of the clubs fighting it out for Chievo striker Carvalho de Oliveira Amauri's services.

The talented 26-year-old Brazilian has already been the subject of one offer from La Favorita officials, having scored 11 goals in Verona last term.

While no agreement has yet been reached Chievo's exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Levski Sofia on Wednesday night could well have tipped the balance.

Amauri scored twice in the home 2-2 draw which saw the Bulgarians win through to the tournament's group stages, 4-2 on aggregate.

While the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi outfit have now been drawn against Portuguese side Braga in the Uefa Cup, Palermo boss Francesco Guidolin remains intent on signing the player.

But reports emanating out of Italy suggest that Barcelona are among a string of Spanish clubs ready to pounce should Guidolin fail to win over Chievo.
